50 Shades Of Red

"Red is the colour of life, of blood"; "It is the colour born on the lips and it is the colour of passion, courage and fire"; "If you're sad, add more lipstick and attack, men hate women who weep", as once said by Mademoiselle Chanel. It is rather unusual to see the red shade appears in menswear; but this season, red has taken over the runway and become one of the signature colours in many spring/summer 2015 menswear  collections like Burberry Prorsum, Fendi and Gucci.

I am in so much love with Burberry. Still going with minimalism but i totally did not expect it to be with bright colour palette mixed with vintage pattern. Another plus is the silk scarfs which makes the whole looks more ethereal, and floppy hats for men, I mean wot could be more classic than floppy hats though. I want one of each too, oh mai gaaaawd >.<!!

We have been witnessing different changes in the men's world of fashion, going from using just neutral colours like the basic black, white and navy to becoming more daring and effervescent with different colours and cuttings for the garments; and it is no exception for the SS 2015 collection. Even though red is a warm colour and has only been on the runway in the a few recent years, it is so fascinating how it has been taken into the latest collections and given a new breath to the summer. Dolce & Gabbana this season is one of the collections that has utilised different shades of red, used them as the fundamental colours in their palette; and I am sure the audiences as well as all the fashion lovers out there have been given a total surprise with their jaws drop, Lol.

Unlike the last collections, Dominico and Stefano have taken the inspiration from the beautiful Spain, a place said to be very close to Stefano's heart, with its world-renowned bullfighting for this spring/summer 2015. Starting with the whole runway themed with red carpet; under the hand of the duo, each of the garments comes to life, speaks out classiness and sophistication. One of the things i love most about this collection is how the ornamental embroidery has been used not only as a way to accentuate the red theme but also to create and enhance the romanticism for the looks; appearing on each jacquard bolero, jacket and especially the sporty oversized three quarter-sleeved top. To finish the summer looks, pairing them with cropped trousers and velvet slippers or sandals is a spectacular idea that I am totally for cause cropped trousers and slippers to me has turned into the new timeless chicness in menswear.

I am to die for the finale of the show when all the models come out in their red suits in different tones. Doesn't it remind you of a whole line of Dolce & Gabbana lipsticks? To me it is just total amazement and even till now, I'm still talking about how amazing the show was to my friend.
